Activity 5: Maths

Holiday challenge 5 maths.

You can make six 2 with red at the top because you can switch blue and yellow 2 with blue at the top for the same reason and 2 with yellow at the top for the same reason. If you add a green block it makes it 24 because if you have green at the top and then red underneath the green you can have yellow at the bottom and blue above yellow and then if you keep the green and red in the same spot but switch the yellow and blue that makes a second tower. Then if you keep green at the top and put red on the bottom then you can put blue on top of the red and the yellow on top of the blue the switch the blue and yellow and then thats 4 towers. Then if you put yellow on the bottom red above the yellow blue above the red and green at the top then switch around the blue and yellow thats another 2 towers so you now have 6 and then if redo the whole process but switch where the green and red went thats another 6, and then do the same as the first on but swap blue and green for the whole thing thats another 6 and then do the first one but swap the yellow and green for the whole thing thats another 6 and 6 + 6 + 6 + 6 = 24

Activity 4: Animal town

Holiday challenge 4 writea story using this image.

As I was packing my bags I asked my mum for the last time "can we please not go to Fairyland there is nothing to do i gonna die of boredome." Although not to my suprise we were stilk gonna go. Who knew doing the same thing over and over doesn't give a different result. About and hour into this trip all I could do was listen to the radio "can this trip not get anymore boring" I mumbled to myself, but then I heard an ad play on the radio "Animal town, a place where animals can communicate and act like humans. Anything you can do these animals can to. Animal town is located near the mountain of Joe in Fairyland. Animal town the place you'll never want to leave." I thought to myself this couldn't be real animals that act like humans and can talk. I was begging my mum to take me to Animal town and to my suprise she said "of course this is the whole reason we're going to Fairyland" I was so excited, I had always loved animals but now I got the chance to talk to them. I loved it at Animal town the Animals were crazy they were telling us the coolest stoies. I wish I could always go to Animal town.

Activity 3: Make a game

Holiday challenge 3 make a game for you and your family to play during the holidays. In this game you will need things like pairs of socks about 5 per person used as ammunition/ammo. This game can be played throughout your house and can have 2 or more players. Everyone starts with a couple pairs of socks or stuff like that to be used as ammo and your objective is to hit people with your ammo. Once someone gets hit they are out and drop all there ammo where they were hit. If some throws the ammo you can once it stops moving pick it up and use it for yourself. If you catch someones ammo you are not out but neither is the person who threw it. You can't use any other objects as ammo. Last person standing wins

Activity 2: Be Active

Holiday challenge 2 make a game that is suitable for our school and keeps everyone active. It is a very simple game. There are four different coloured hoops. Lets say red, yellow, green and blue. Ther can be 3 of each 5 of each or just 1 of each aslong as they have the same amount. There can be four ways of playing this game. The first one is that everyone gets into a colour hoop and the caller calls a colour. Say they pick yellow Everyone has 5 seconds to out of a yellow hoop if you dont get into another colour in time you are out. The caller cannot look until they call a colour, then they look and see who doesn't make it in time. After the people who loses gets out the caller calls another colour and the game goes until 1 person is left. The second on is everyone gets into a hoop and the caller calls a colour, everyone in the colour that the caller chose is out colour is now out. After everyone that loses gets out ypou have 10 seconds to get into a new hoop or stay in the same. The caller cannot look at who is in what colour and has to look away when calling. The third is everyone gets into a hoop and then the caller calls a colour and everyone has 5 seconds to get into the colour the caller said. If you do not make it in time you are out. The caller can't look until they call a colour and then they look to see who doesn't make it. After the people who loses gets out the caller calls another colour and the game goes until 1 person is left. The last one is the caller calls a colour and everyone runs to that colour anyone who doesn't make it in 5 seconds is out. If the game isn't ending you can move the hoops further away from eachother, remove 1 or 2 hoops or have less time to get to the hoops.

Matariki Celebrate

We had to design a Matariki celebration of how we thought Matariki was celebrated. I found this difficult because my family doesn't celebrate Matariki. Here my celebration:

Matariki narrative

Matariki just recently happened and we had to make a nnarrative about Matariki. We could do anything we wanted aslong as it had relevance to Matariki. Here it is:

One time three mischievous teenage boys, Koda, Zowyn and George. Koda the smart one, Zowyn the prank player and George the one trying not to get involved. Koda, Zowyn and George were always causing trouble and were banned from all the local stores because of the pranks they played. George wanted time off pranks and suggested they spent some time in the forest. So they went to the forest but things didn't go as planned…

...Out of nowhere Koda was gone
George and Zowyn got worried and started searching for Koda and in doing so they found themselves lost. Koda tried calling for them but got no reply and all of a sudden they found themselves in pitch black. It was like they were all alone in virtual reality, a deep voice said “you 3 have been transported into an endless void and the only way of getting out is by finding three stars each. Good luck you’re gonna need it.” After hearing the message they all started to search for stars. George was the first one to find all three stars and was transported back to the real world but when he got there he saw Koda and Zowyn on the ground, they were unconscious. About 5 minutes later Koda woke up. Koda realised that he still had the stars and told George that they could be used as a memory of this time. When Zowyn returned from the void they were all together and Koda told Zowyn about his idea. After all three of them threw their stars into the sky they decided to name the stars and name the cluster pleiades or Matariki and from that day Matariki has been used for resources and knowledge for the future.

Waka

Challenge 9 design a waka. We had to answer these questions

What would it have? (what reffering to the waka)

What does it look like? (same thing)

My waka would be short to fit about 1 to 12 people. It wouldn't have sails and would be lashed. I would have carvings on the Tauihu (prow) and Taurapa (stern post) and sides

Something we need at school.

Challenge 8 what is something we could have at school? I think that we could have some science equipment and have some time a week to do science. I think this because in college we do science and this could give at a bit of a boost before we go to college.

Poppy

Challenge 7 I made a poppy. I used a red and black bag I traced and cut out the bags. Then I got some grass and glued it all together. We also had write 5 facts: 1.Poppies are used to remember all those who had died in war.  2. They are worn in resemblance to they fighting war members not just ANZAC they are worn on events like Armistice Day. 3. When the soldiers went to war there were hundreds of thousands of poppies in the grass and when they fell they lay among the poppies. 4. They grew on battlefields because of rubble. 5. Poppies are needed to make morphine. Here's my poppy:

Fact file

This is my 6th challenge it is an ANZAC fact file. It will just be facts about ANZAC day.

ANZAC got its name from the the soldiers who fought in the WW1 at Gallipoli and it stands for Australia and New Zealand Army Corps. ANZAC can be celebrated in parades or ceremonies. ANZAC is held on the 25th of April. Poppies and biscuits are significant to ANZAC. The relevance of poppies to ANZAC day is that poppies are used to remember all those who had died in war. They are worn in resemblance to they fighting war members not just ANZAC they are worn on events like armistice day that is held on November 11th. When the soldiers went to war there were hundreds of thousands of poppies in the grass and when they fell they lay among the poppies. The relevance of ANZAC biscuits is that women would send these biscuits to the war members because the recipe made them long lasting and good to eat while travelling.

Baking

This is my 5th holiday challenge. My mum and I did some baking. We made a sponge cake, sponge cake is my favourite cake. This is me pouring the batter and pictures of the cake, ingredients and recipe.

The Trolls

This is my 4th challenge. in this challenge we were give a text that looke like this...

They had arrived out of the blue, catching everyone completely unaware.

Striding through the vast expanse of ocean as if it were nothing more than a shallow puddle, the trolls provided the gathering crowd on the cliff tops with a menacing spectacle. They were enormous! Grotesque!

The whole cliff shook as one of them crunched a meaty, clumsy hand the size of an elephant into the rock face…

...and were told to finish it of. Here is mine

...Everyone ran to try and get away but the trolls were big enough to catch up in one step. Unnatural shakes felling as if and earthquake had cracked the world in half.  As everyone was running away a troll started crying and said "why does everyone hate me" and the trolls ran away.

A week holiday

This my third challenge which is to design a week for your family so I thought of somethings that we could do. First we need to get a 5 person motel for 7 nights in Auckland. We would packstuff we needed then we would proceed to travel to Auckland. When we first get to Auckland go to our motel. We would go shopping for food and other things neccesary or not.  Then we go to places like rainbows end, the pools, beachs, museums, trampoline place, mall and other entertaining places.

What is good about Kawakawa?

This is my second challenge that I am posting. It is reasons I think Kawakawa is a good place. I think that Hundertwasser toilets are good for tourists that come to Kawakawa. Kawakawa is famous for the Hundertwasser toils and that is in my opinion the most special thing about Kawakawa and why it is a good place.

A day in the life of...

These holidays we have a holiday challenge to blog 10 different activities. We are doing this to keep our brains work throughout the holidays. This is the first challenge, it is a day in the life of an object in your house. I chose a pair of shoes because why not. Enjoy (:

As the curtains ascend the house is furnished with gleaming light, people traipse towards me, looking as if they were teleported to the middle of nowhere. Finally, time to adventure as I'm slid onto feet. I uncontrollably move through the Earth. Flying high in the air, sailing the seven seas, and just like I'm home on the shoe rack. As the sun descends and the moon ascends night falls upon us.

Narrative

This is another piece of writing, once again a narrative. This time we didn't have an option, well sort of. There were 2 videos we could watch, I watched the present and wrote a narrative on it. Here it is:

One afternoon I was playing on my PS5 when my mum came home from work. She had a box and put it on the table next to me. She said “well are you going to open the present I got you.” I was eager to open it and paused my game to see what she got me. I opened it and saw it was a cute dog. My curiosity turned to disappointment when I saw it had 3 and a half legs. I propelled him over and continued my game. I had launched him onto his back and he struggled to get up. He saw a ball and darted over to it, he gave it to me hoping for me to throw it. I kicked as hard as I could and it went into the box. When he went to get it he got stuck in the box, I laughed joyously but quickly refocused on my game. He put the ball next to my foot and nudged it onto my foot. I realised that everyone and everything should be treated with care, so I picked up my crutches and hopped outside to play with him.

In week one of school we had to write a narrative on natural disasters. Here is mine I hope you like it.
